Tiger Stripe gets its name from the unique tiger like patterns on the sheeths of each cane. With its large leaf and dense appearance this beautiful plant is a fantastic tropical looking screening bamboo and is a great alternative to many of the other bamboos that are commonly used for screening. This bamboo does not like frosts, so a frost free environment is required to look its best. Tiger will do well in full sun to part shade.

Guadua is an impressive bamboo with stunning canes that has it regarded as one of the most incredible looking species available. This bamboo however is one for the serious collector as it does not like dry conditions nor does it like frost. Additionally, once the plant matures, the lower third of the canes are branchless. Guadua produces excellent timber ideal for making furniture. This bamboo definitely has the ‘wow’ factor! Prefers a sunny/warm or partly shaded position.

A beautiful big bamboo species with culms that turn orange when exposed to direct sunlight. The shoots are edible and popular in the Philippines where it is widely known as “Sweet Shoot Bamboo”. Sikkimensis really stands out in the landscape with its orange coloured culms and masses of large green leaves and makes an excellent timber. This bamboo is very tough and a real eye catcher for those with the space to own one of these giants. Prefers a full sun/part shade position.

Schizostachyzum sp ‘Murray Island’

This is a very good bamboo well suited to the smaller suburban garden. A very bushy and full looking bamboo it is great for screening out the neighbours. This bamboo will also do very well in pots as an ornamental and can be pruned to shape. It is very tolerant of hot and windy conditions as long as you keep it well watered. Prefers a sunny or partly shaded position. This bamboo struggles to grow here and as such we no longer stock this variety.

Schizostachyum brachycladum

This is a very beautiful bamboo and is regarded as one of the best looking of the tropical clumping bamboos. Bright yellow canes and large green leaves really make this bamboo stand out from the crowd. This is for the serious collector as it is a very fussy bamboo and needs perfect conditions to look its best. This bamboo will not survive the cold winters here in Perth so for those of you who really need to have one you must provide it with constant warmth during the colder months. Prefers a sunny or partly shaded position. Stock not available.

Chocolate black canes with lime green stripes, a truly beautiful bamboo. This bamboo will do best in a sheltered position. Direct exposure to the afternoon sun on the black canes will cause some ‘sun-bleaching’ to occur. For this reason it is best protected from direct afternoon sun exposure. The canes are erect and really stand out among the stunning lime green leaves. A fantastic specimen bamboo in any garden. Prefers a partly shaded position.
